An interview with Mr. Prakash Batna | Entrepreneur | Founder at Hisales Consulting Pvt Ltd

We always strive to bring meaningful and powerful stories from India and around the world to empower and motivate our growing community. As part of this endeavour, Mr. Prakash Batna we invited  for an exclusive interview with us. Let’s learn more about his incredible journey, his background and his advice for our growing community

Tell us a little bit about your start-up and your journey, please;

My professional journey started 16 years back in 2005 in sales. Over the years have worked across organisations and industries and had the experience of working with some great, talented and smart professionals throughout my career. Sales and selling is tough. I also faced lot of challenges initially and have learned the hard way. Given the importance of this function the focus is always high and so is the stress level. Sales and selling anything is easy, provided you know how. The know-how is missing and hence all the struggles. With a simple goal to make sales and selling easy to anyone and everyone I started my company Hisales consulting Pvt ltd in March 2020, just when the covid hit everyone, and had been training, coaching, mentoring professionals in sales and selling and consulting companies in setting up a robust sales ecosystem for scalable and consistent growth.

How did the idea for your business/startup come about?

In my professionals career I struggled a lot with selling and I learned the hard way. I was not guided, mentored or coached on how to generate leads, build proposals, do demos effectively, Negotiate like a pro and close deals effectively. I learned everything on the job and invested time in learning new skills. That is when I understood that selling is easy provided you know how and came up with a simple goal to make sales and selling easy to anyone who is struggling or want to grow. My previous startup stints (co-founded 2 companies in edtech and foodtech) helped me give this a structure and soon a business model emerged and took shape. March 1st 2020 Hisales consulting was born out of this passion and since then there is no looking back.

How did you come up with the name for your business/startup?

Hisales mission is to make sales and selling easy and fun while at the same time the business should grow as well. I wanted a name which signifies friendliness and also growth at the same time. Capturing these 2 elements Hisales was born. Hi – means greeting when we greet someone we say “Hi” and Hi also means High – which is growth (gh in High remains silent). So for me both the aspects are taken into consideration and hence the name.

What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacture?

How many hours a day do you work on average & can you describe/outline your typical day?

We are still in a startup phase and working hours are not limited plus the day however well I plan cannot be structured. I wish though it happens soon.

What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?

My greatest fear is to manage the business growth that am witnessing currently and keeping checking and revising the plan to stay on track and committed

What comes first for you money or emotions?

Emotions hands down, money follows

What piece of advice would you give to college graduates who want to become entrepreneurs?

There are no quick fix solution. Patience, perseverance and discipline alone will take you places

How did you discover your passion?

I have been selling from day one of my professional life and even in our personal lives we do selling every day. I see everyone struggling and myself included. I do not want others to go through the same struggle and wanted to come up with something that will be easy, bring the mojo back and get the careers on track. While I was going through the changes myself I realised that when I can do it for myself then the same can be done by others also plus my two startup experiences helped me discover my passion

With so much going on, how do you start the day to keep your passion alive?

Passion is contagious and am thankful to my team members, my colleagues and my circle who keep this alive in me by constant feedback, insights, and discussions.

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

Follow your instincts and Just do it. Yesterday was the best time and if you missed it the next best time is today.
