SBK Tech Ventures Invests $7.1 Million in Six Promising Bangladeshi Startups

In a significant boost to Bangladesh’s burgeoning startup ecosystem, SBK Tech Ventures, the country’s only woman-led venture capital firm, has announced the allocation of $7.1 million (Tk85 crore) to six innovative local startups. The funding, finalized in the second quarter of this year, highlights SBK’s commitment to fostering technological advancement and entrepreneurial growth in Bangladesh.

The six startups receiving investment are diverse in their focus, spanning sectors such as artificial intelligence, mobility, climate tech, agritech, medtech, and edtech. Each of these startups brings a unique solution to the market, aiming to address both local and global challenges through technology.

Investment Breakdown:

1.Markopolo

Artificial Intelligence (AI): Markopolo has secured $1.5 million to advance its AI-driven solutions. The startup focuses on leveraging AI to optimize marketing campaigns and enhance customer engagement.

2. Jatri

Mobility: Also receiving $1.5 million, Jatri aims to revolutionize the transportation sector in Bangladesh. The startup is developing tech-enabled solutions to improve the efficiency and reliability of urban mobility.

3. Solshare

Climate Tech: Solshare has been awarded $1.1 million. The startup is dedicated to promoting sustainable energy solutions, particularly in underserved regions, by utilizing peer-to-peer solar energy trading platforms.

4. Fashal- AgriTech:

With $1 million in funding, Fashal is set to enhance agricultural productivity and supply chain efficiency through its innovative agri-tech solutions.

5. Arogga.-MedTech:

Arogga, a medtech startup, has also received $1 million. It aims to make healthcare more accessible and affordable by providing a platform for ordering medicines and medical supplies online.

6. 10 Minute School – EdTech:

Another $1 million has been allocated to 10 Minute School, an edtech platform that provides educational content and resources to students, helping to bridge the gap in educational disparities.

Sonia Bashir Kabir, the founder and managing general partner of SBK Tech Ventures, emphasized the untapped potential of Bangladeshi startup founders. She remarked, “Bangladeshi startup founders are undervalued and unnoticed. They have numerous opportunities for delivering impact through tech-enabled business models.”

Kabir’s vision for SBK Tech Ventures is to empower these startups to scale their operations and amplify their impact. The funding not only provides these companies with the necessary capital to grow but also validates their innovative approaches to solving critical issues.
